From This Day Forward

From This Day Forward:
Music for Your Wedding

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! What a blessed and happy time in your life, a time that I am delighted to contribute to in a small way. Take a breath and relax. This is the fun part!

I have been singing for weddings for 15 years. I consider singing for weddings one of the most joyous and beautiful things I get to do as a musician. Hopefully, your wedding day will be one that you remember as one of the happiest days of your life. I would love to play a small role in contributing to your joy and the beauty of your day.

I am available both as a vocalist alone, as well as vocalist and pianist. Please contact me for availability and fees at gabriela@gabrielafrei.com.

Please click here for a list outlining the places during your ceremony
for which you will need music.

The following link will take you to a page with a list of wedding music that I have compiled through the weddings I've done.

This list of wedding music is by no means meant to be an all-encompassing list. There is so much music available for weddings. As you come up with your own ideas, please contact me and I will help you make your final selections.

Please check with your parish’s director of music to see what his/her policies are in regards to wedding ceremony music. Each parish is unique in its allowance of either contemporary praise and worship or secular love songs within the marriage liturgy.

You can listen to most songs online, either by visiting my website, www.gabrielafrei.com,
or by searching for the song on YouTube. Enjoy!

Music For Your Wedding

Music for Your Wedding

This list of wedding music is by no means meant to be an all-encompassing list. There is so much music available for weddings. Please check with your parish’s director of music to see what his/her policies are in regards to wedding ceremony music. Each parish is unique in its allowance of either contemporary praise and worship or secular love songs within the marriage liturgy.

Many of these songs can be sung at different parts of your ceremony. I have merely listed them at the points at which I’ve most often sung them. The majority, for example, of the pre-ceremony songs can also be used during the ceremony for offertory or communion.

You can listen to most songs online, either by visiting my website, www.gabrielafrei.com,
or by searching for the song on YouTube. Enjoy!

Mothers’ Entrance
Ave Maria, Bach/Gounod or Ave Maria, Schubert
Hail Mary (Gentle Woman), Tom Kendzia and Timothy R. Smith

Bride’s Entrance – most brides choose to have instrumentals played for their entrance, something grand like the traditional “Here Comes the Bride” melody. However, some brides opt to have a song sung as they process.

Canon in D, Pachabel                                               Here Comes the Bride (Traditional Melody)
Air On The G String, Bach                                      Indescribable, Chris Tomlin
Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Bach                        Sheep May Safely Graze, Bach

Responsorial Psalm & Alleluia
You are free to choose any psalm response that you like, and I will provide you with a popular arrangement of it. The most popular psalms responses for weddings, as suggested by Together for Life, are Psalms:
33: The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
34: I will bless the Lord at all times.
103: The Lord is kind and merciful.
128: Blessed are those who fear the Lord.
145: Our God is compassion to all creation.
148: Let all praise the name of the Lord.

The typical Gospel Acclamation, or verse for the Alleluia, is as follows:
If you love one another, God will live in you and you will live in God.

Unity Candle
The lighting of the unity candle lasts about 45 seconds or so, so I would recommend selecting the chorus of a song, such as Wedding Song or Come What May for example, to cover this time.

Offertory Hymn
As I Kneel Before You, Maria Parkinson                      Pie Jesu, Andrew Lloyd Webber
The Prayer, Celine Dion and Andrea Bocceli

Communion Hymn/Meditation Hymn
Come To Jesus, Josh Blakesley                                       How Beautiful, Twila Paris
Pie Jesu, Andrew Lloyd Webber                                    Panis Angelicus, Cesar Frank
Set Me As A Seal, Matt Maher                                          Taste and See, James Moore, Jr.
This is the Air I Breathe, Hillsong                                   You Are Mine, David Haas

Processional – most couples choose to have instrumentals played for their exit. However, some opt to have a song sung as they exit.

Wedding Music Order

WEDDING MUSIC ORDER

The following schedule will help you in outlining all the places that you will need music for your wedding.

Prelude - before the ceremony begins.
•    3-4 songs (20 minutes) to be sung as guests are arriving and being seated.
•    1 song for entrance of mothers of bride/groom, lighting of unity candle (if one is used), and their being seated.

Processional

•    1 song for entrance of bridal party. (Be sure to let your musicians know how many bridesmaids and flower girls/ring bearers you have, if any).
•    1 song for Bridal Entrance.

Be aware that for all these entrances, depending on the length of your church's aisle and the number of people involved, you might hear only a verse and chorus of your song selection, or you might hear the entire song.

Ceremony
•    Responsorial Psalm (can be sung or spoken)
•    Alleluia and Gospel Acclamation (always sung)
•    Lighting of Unity Candle (if one is used)
This only takes 45 seconds, so choose a chorus or selection only of a song.
The lighting of the Unity Candle generally happens right after your vows and exchanging of rings.

•    Presentation of the Gifts
•    Mass Parts (Holy/Holy/Holy, Memorial Acclamation, Great Amen, Lamb of God)
•    Communion Hymn
•    Meditational Hymn or Hymn during ceremony to honor Our Lady (optional)
•    Processional Hymn

Words Of Affirmation

Words of Affirmation

**********************

I am friends with Fred Fischer and on the board of CPCI. Fred told us about your contest. You will be in my prayers for blessings for the contest. I don't know what they are looking for but they will find everything in you.
I also wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your music. I bought a CD a few years ago when you were at Resurrection and I still play it all of the time. Your music and your voice are so beautiful and I almost know all of the words to your songs. I sometimes get sick because I have a chronic illness and your music is very comforting to me when I get bad news and am not feeling well. Thank you for sharing your gifts with me. May God bless you and your husband and new baby. - Chris

Wow - so good! Love the site but love you more! And you do have the voice of an angel!  Nope you have the voice of a choir of angels! - Leah

I just want to say that you are freaking amazing. (Not that I didn't realize that years ago) You are amazing in what you do, yes but even more amazing is your openness about your struggles and heart ships. I would venture to say that most would not share themselves in that ways that you do. I am blessed to be able to call you my sister and my friend. I love you. You are in my prayers. - Barbara

I just want to say that your blog has majorly blessed me. I have only heard your music through CDs that Christina has let me listen to in the past, but what I have heard has been amazing. It is really awesome to see someone live totally sold out to God's will in the area of talent. I pray that He blesses you in the Voice of an Angel competition. You must be wonder-woman: wife, mother, singer! You have a tremendously lucky family. :) - Heather

Gaby, I have always admired you for your amazing voice and ability to prayerfully balance the different aspects of your life. May the added adventure of motherhood continue the excitement of this balance! - Lizzie

Hi. I love your music, and I need god in my life again. When I hear your lyrics, I have the sense of feeling that I'm not alone and God is with me. - Anonymous

Thank you for sharing your beautiful pro-life song. It brought tears to my eyes. The melody is haunting. God bless you for your stand for his little ones.  - Cindee

Beautiful beyond words! I wish you could get this on the Top 10 - it would be such a blessing for a pro-life awakening! - Anonymous, in reference to "Let Me Live"

Wow, this song is so good, it is sad but it shows how they both may feel. I am so glad you put this on here. God bless you not only for your voice, but for the words of truth that you speak.
- Anonymous, in reference to "Let Me Live"

Wow. You got me speechless. This was a beautiful piece and your voice is amazing! Keep it up! I love the lyrics! - Anonymous, in reference to "Light Unto The World"

Wow, you are so talented. God has gifted you the talent to play and sing. I really enjoy the music you wrote. Your voice that you sing is filled with great emotion. God has really gifted you. Please continue using this gift that God has given you. Praise God. Love the lyrics. It's really touching. I'm crying. I think you have great lyrics. Keep on writing, playing and singing. All the glory goes to Him alone. God bless you! - Anonymous, in reference to "Let Me Live"

I am so glad I found this video. I was being forced to abort ... but I am not because I know I can make it... - Anonymous, in reference to "Let Me Live"

This is a great song -- I can relate to it 'cause I'm glad that my mom didn't follow my dad's wishes and get an abortion -- I'm glad that I was allowed to live! - Anonymous, in reference to "Let Me Live"

Every song you sing sounds sooo beautiful!!! God has blessed you with a amazing voice. I'd love to hear you sing one of my favorite songs "This is the air I breathe." You'd be awesome singing this song. Thank you! I enjoyed listening to your singing. Soo soothing and spiritual. - Anonymous

WOW! What are you doing here! I am absolutely speechless! WOW! You have the voice of an angel. I instantly fell in love. Thank you. - Terry

Captivating and mesmerizing and entertaining, you are the best talent I've seen on youtube!
- Anonymous

WOW WOW WOW just WOW and AWESOME!!! - Anonymous

Your voice is beautiful! Truly one of God's angels from Heaven! Know that you have spoken into my life and caused something to be triggered to serve our great God! Thank you soooo much! - Shauna

Wow....this is beyond excellent...please please continue to offer this gift back to God, he truly has blessed you. - Anonymous

Truly awesome song, that really really pierces hearts and gives imagery that you don't see in music anymore. So much christian music these days lacks so much depth and intimacy, but yours is steeped with it. God Bless. - Anonymous

An ear-delicious experience, uplifting and complete. What more can you can ask for? - Eric

WOMEN OF FAITH, WOMEN OF ACTION CONFERENCE - FEBRUARY 20TH.

I wanted to share about my experiences leading the music for the Women of Faith, Women of Action conference held here in Fort Myers on February 20th.

It was a real blessing and an honor to be a part of this event. Over 350 women were in attendance, to listen to the keynote speaker, Helen Alvare, as well as Father Miguel Gonzales and Cristina Martinez, and attend Mass with Bishop Frank Dewayne.

What a line-up. And then there was me.
I led a time of praise and worship, asking the women to join me in singing Shout To The Lord. I then spoke a bit about my ministry in music, my growth as a songwriter, a few of my favorite songs, and then was blessed to play Transfigure (which you can listen to here at gabrielafrei.com as well as watch the music video).

Later in the afternoon, I played and sang Go Light Your World as women holding candles processed throughout the theater. It was a beautiful moment, and a poignant reminder that we are Christ's hands and feet to our brothers and sisters, His light to the world.

I also had a tremendous opportunity to spread the word about my own music ministry and sell CDs. I was so excited to offer these women a brand new, hot-off-the-presses CD, which even included a cover of Go Light Your World. I literally finished recording and producing this CD the night before the conference! But it was worth the effort to have a CD that I could proudly offer. I thank God for His faithfulness in providing opportunities. Now I will wait patiently, til the next opportunity arises. May His glory be fulfilled and accomplished.

About Me

If anyone asks Gabriela Frei what the desire of her heart is, the answer would undeniably be to sing for the Lord. A gifted pianist, composer, and songwriter, Gaby has been singing for as long as she can remember. And there can be no greater blessing than to combine doing what you love for Who you love.

Her music testifies to that love. For Gaby, music is the rhythm of life, a glimpse into eternity, a joining with the angels and saints in worship of God. It is her passion, her deepest joy. When she sings, she feels closest to the One who inspires her song. Her music has emerged from what the Lord has whispered in her heart over the years. It has become her ministry and mission to share with the world the healing and peace that God has poured into her life through music.

Gaby's voice has a quiet strength that appeals to young and old alike, and her music speaks to every heart, touching a chord deep within that inspires the listener to praise God. Gaby constantly turns to the Lord for inspiration to compose, play, and sing. Psalm 42:9, one of her life verses, declares: "...May the Lord bestow faithful love that I may sing praise..., praise to the God of my life." Gaby's sound is meditational, lyrical, eloquent, and soul-stirring. She sings from the depths of her heart, a musical biography that gives testimony to her personal encounter with the Lord:

She was married in 2008 to the man of her dreams, Jonathan Frei, and the two expanded their hearts to receive three beautiful children: Matthew, Daniel, and Natalie. They have brought unsurpassed joy into her heart. The Lord has used these little ones to teach Gabi more and more about what it means to trust. to be patient, to surrender, and most of all, to love wholeheartedly.

Please keep her in prayer, that God's will might be done for her life, and His glory achieved through her gift of music.
